A video we found on YouTube about Whitby and Surrounding areas by Royal Mail in their 'First Class' series. Barry takes you on his post round and concentrates on areas around Whitby and Whitby Abbey. Another video about whitby by an amateur:
A brief video of Whitby, concentrating on the East side of the town where you will find Whitby Abbey and St Mary's Church at the top of the cliff with good views of the town. The small boat in the video is a mini replica of Captain Cooks Endeavour which takes pleasure trips out to sea, the yellow boat you see runs a similar service and also has a bar on board. The ship at the end of the video is the Grand Turk frigate which is a full size authentic replica of HMS Blanford. It has been moord in whitby for several years now. -Video removed- | HM Bark Endeavour is the ship which Captain Cook discovered Australia with.
A replica was made and launched in 1993 to celebrate teh bicentennary of Australias discovery by Cook.
The video below shows the regular steam service that still runs between Whitby and Pickering. It makes a nice trip with kids and they also run an evening service serving dinner. The Esk valley line is very picturesque. There is a steam museum in Grosmont where the trains are maintaned.
